Laribal Trout Farm earns Rs 30.80 lakh during 2015-16

SRINAGAR–Minister of State for Forest, Ecology & Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad today inspected Laribal Trout Farm at Dachigam and took stock of the activities of the Farm. 
He was informed that Laribal is one of the oldest Trout Farm of the State where breeding and both the species of trout fish including Rainbow and Brown is being carried out on latest techniques and on scientific basis.
It was given out that 6.37 lakh number of Brown Trout seed produced and supplied to various districts for stocking in various trout streams for giving extra boost to the angling industry in the State during 2015-16. Besides, 5.40 lakh number of Rainbow Trout fry has been produced which is different stages being reared in the Farm. This will cater the demand of private sector and other Government units.
It was further informed that during 2015-16, the Project sold 6.21 tonnes of trout fish and earned total revenue to the tune of Rs 30.80 lakh.
