Minister Ignores Legislator

Srinagar:  MLA Ganderbal Ishfaq Jabbar has written a letter to the Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly against the minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Chowdhary for the breach of privilege.

The letter reads that the said minister was on an official visit to conduct a review meeting to Ganderbal, the constituency represented by the NC MLA on May 11 along with DC Ganderbal and other administrative officers.

“Neither the honorable minister nor DC Ganderbal informed/invited  me during the said visit/review meeting. The minister was supposed to visit me as per the privileges amenities available to honorable legislators being representative of the people,” reads the letter.

Jabbar termed the act on the part of the minster as well as to that of the DC Ganderbal tantamount to breach of privilege.

The MLA has requested the Speaker to initiate proceeding of breach of privileges under rules 238 against the minster and DC Ganderbal.

He said if need be he will move to the court of law.
