Srinagar: Liyaqat Shah, who was cleared of terror charges by National Investigation Agency last year, was on Wednesday gravely injured in an attack by a wild bear in Lolab area of Kupwara district.
The 67-year-old Liyaqat son of Sakhi Shah, a resident of Syed Mohalla, Dardpora Lolab was attacked by the bear in the forest area near by his house, a police official said.
He was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment wherefrom he was shifted to Srinagar hospital in critical condition, the official added.
In January last year, NIA filed charge sheet against a fugitive police informer, exonerating Liyaqat whom the Delhi Police Special Cell had arrested in 2013 on charges of being a ‘suicide attacker’ of Hizbul Mujahideen group.
The NIA gave a clean chit to Shah saying that the weapons had been planted to frame him.
