Kashmir Nurse wins National Florence Nightingale Award

Munira Kachroo, Associate Professor at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) was Thursday awarded “National Florence Nightingale”.

At a function at Rashtrapati Bhawan New Delhi, Munira was awarded by president Pranab Mukherjee.

Munira is AP at Madar-e-Meharbaan Institute of Nursing Science and Research SKIMS.

May 12 is celebrated as International Nurses Day.

Notbaly, this is second consecutive year that a Kashmir nurse has won this prestigious award.

Rehana Kounsar, a staff nurse at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), was felicitated with the National Florence Nightingale Award for her commendable services in nursing in 2015.

Kounsar is working as a staff nurse since 1994 and has various achievements to her credit, including voluntary work for cancer patients and services to people during the devastating floods last year.
