Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said India is emerging as an influential global power and the onus now lies on the youth to ensure that the country gets recognition as an economically, spiritually and intellectually emancipated nation.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of 5-day Netritva Sadna Workshop organized by Rambhaw Malgi Prabodhni at SKICC here today.
The Mister of State for Education, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Priya Sethi was also present on the occasion.
Referring to the strides made by India recently, the Deputy CM said that the country is emerging as one of the leading nations across the globe. He said the youth could play a vital role in developmental of the nation if their energy is channelized in the right direction at the right time. They (youth) should also involve themselves in the day-to-day governance by giving their intellectual inputs which will be utilized for making youth-centric policies so that young and emerging leaders are groomed, he added.
Referring to India as a centre of spirituality, the Deputy Chief Minister said that it is a recorded fact that the country has been providing the much needed intellectual and spiritual thoughts to the world. He said India has produced great thinkers like Swami Vivekananda, who have always highlighted the role, the youth can play in nation building and the need of the hour is to carry forward the teachings and thoughts of these great spiritual leaders.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while complimenting the organizers for organizing the event in J&K said such events provide a platform for the exchange of ideas by the youth from different States. He said these events also help in honing the leadership qualities of youth which would go a long way in creating the future leaders for the nation.
The Minister of State for Education, Culture & Tourism, Priya Sethi while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of holding leadership programmes for youth. She said exchange of intellectual ideas among the youth from different states of the country helps create a synthesis of ideas. She also said that the need of the hour is to organize many such programmes so that the participants can also give the real picture of the State.
