Srinagar: Terming the statement of chief justice of India, Justice T S Thakur regarding Jammu Kashmir as “half truth”, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Wednesday said though the chief justice openly talked about various facets of the Kashmir issue, he has sidelined many aspects by making some unambiguous remarks.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said the statement of Justice T S Thakur is an attempt to misinterpret the J&K’s history and said the so-called ‘Instrument of Accession’ signed by the Maharaja of Kashmir has no relevance as questions have been raised over its authenticity.
He rejected the justice’s assertion that by winning the hearts of the people of Kashmir, India can fill the void that exists between it and Kashmir. “Is it possible for us to forget the tyranny she brutality inflicted by Indian state upon us. Can we forget our lakhs of martyrs, and the plight of our widows and orphans. Azadi from Indian illegal and forcible occupation is our one end final demand,” he said.
Shah said the open reality is that before 1947, Jammu and Kashmir was an independent state which India occupied through military might. “Justice Sahib instead of making such remarks should start a campaign for persuading the Indian state to fulfill the promises kept by its first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru with Kashmiris,” he said.
Commenting on the return of Kashmiri Pandits to valley, Shah reiterated that they are welcome to their land. On the Two-Nation theory, he said Justice Thakur may be well aware of the relevance of this theory after witnessing the BJP’s anti-Muslim policy.
Terming the justice’s remarks regarding elections in J&K as eye-opener, Shah said it vindicates our viewpoint that the rulers in the state are installed by the secret agencies.
