Anantnag Mystery Death: Family Seeks Probe

Srinagar: The family members of a South Kashmir youth who was found dead in mysterious circumstances staged a protest here alleging that Police have failed to solve what they termed as ‘murder case’.

 Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, an Audit cum Accounts Manager of Dayalgam hamlet of Anantnag district was found dead and his dead body was fished out from a local nallah on 10 April last month.

The family members and relatives of the deceased youth assembled here in Press Enclave to impress upon the police administration to launch a thorough probe into the mysterious death of the youth. “Even after the lapse of one month, police have neither lodged an FIR nor it have constituted any team to probe the matter. The dead body bore torture marks and there is enough reason to believe that he has been murdered,” the mother of the deceased youth told CNS.

 A top police official said that an FIR vide number 86/2016 stands registered in this regard. “Investigation is going on. Prima facie it appears natural death, yet we are on job to ascertain the facts,” he said.
