Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Leaders Slapped With PSA

SRINAGAR: Strongly condemning the invoking of another “lawless-law”, Public Safety Act (PSA) against Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeHHH) leaders: Ameer Hamza Shah and Nasir Abdullah, continuous police detention of district president Kupwara Mohammad Yousuf Lone, Tehsil president Manzoor Ahmad Ganai and Molvi Abdul Ahad Sopore and not releasing of district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah despite his PSA stay quashed, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) said Thursday that the Ms Mehbooba Mufti government had started a new campaign of arrests and PSA against the Hurriyat leaders.

The Hurriyat amalgam alleged that the army and police have been given a free hand.

Demanding immediate release of all the political prisoners including Masarat Alam Bhat, Abdul Gani Bhat, Hakeem Showkat, Assadullah Parray, Meraj-ud-din Shairgujri and Zubair Ahmad Turray, Hurriyat Conference (g) in its press statement said, “the sweet slogans ‘Goli nahi Boli’ and ‘Battle of Ideas’ of PDP had never appeared on the ground and they have surrendered all their political philosophies before the RSS for the chair of power.”

 ‘Since 1990 more than 20 thousand citizens of Jammu & Kashmir have been detained under this black law and there are still hundreds of people languishing in Jails only because of their political ideologies, the statement said. “The PSA slapped on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Ameer Hamza Shah was termed null and void by the J&K High Court on 19 April and it issued his released orders but he was again slapped with another PSA after detaining him in CIK Jammu and police station Bandipora for 12 days and was sent to Udhampur district jail while as another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Nasir Abdullah who is under the illegal detention from last two and a half years have been also slapped with fresh PSA and he too was moved to the Udhampur jail,” the spokesperson claimed.

“District president Kupwara Mohammad Yousuf Lone and Tehsil president Manzoor Ahmad Ganai were arrested on some unknown reasons and were detained in Sogam police station for last two weeks and after attaining bail in the FIRs they were immediately shifted to the Drugmulla police station,” the statement added. “Another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader and district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah is still under the illegal detention in Srinagar central jail despite the court had quashed his PSA detention.”
