Soldier killed in Keran gunfight 3 cops,civilian injured in Chadoora grenade-attack

Srinagar:  An army soldier was killed in an encounter near Line of Control (LoC) in Keran  sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.

According to the official sources, Army’s 21 KAMAU guarding the Gujer Dori area near LoC in the sector detected some suspicious movement during wee hours on Friday. 

When the forces challenged the infiltrators, they started firing ensuing a fierce firefight in which an army soldier, Sepoy, Ramesh Chand Yadav.

The injured soldier was immediately airlifted to army’s 92 base hospital for treatment, however, he succumbed to injuries, the official said.

The search operation in the area is still going on.

Meanwhile, three policemen and a civilian were injured on Friday when militants hurled a grenade at a police party in central Kashmir’s Badgam district.

According to a police officer, the attack took place near bus stand Chadoora town. One of the injured cops, identified as Shabir Ahmad, has received multiple splinter injuries. The other two cops were identified as Maroof Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad.

 “All the three have been referred to SMHS for specialised treatment, Block Medical Officer Dr Ruskhsana said.  The civilian, identified as Jawahira of Nawhar village of Chadoora also received minor injuries. She was discharged after receiving first aid at Sub District Hospital Chadoora
