Principal, 3 peons running Degree College Gurez

Bandipora: Government Degree College Gurez established some nine years ago is shockingly being run by a single teacher who ironically is the principal of the college while locals allege that despite bringing the matter into the notice of authorities, nothing has been done to mitigate the suffering of the students.
A delegation from Gurez told a local news agency that the college has only four regular employees- the Principal and three class fourth workers. “In recent appointment drive of contractual staff for degree colleges by nodal college Amar Singh College for session 2016, all the colleges except the GDC Gurez was provided with the staff.”
In absence of faculty, no class work is going on in the college,” they said adding that the shortage of teaching staff in the college is adversely affecting the studies of all but 500 students enrolled in the college.
Established as College during the year 2007, the educational institution continues to function in the two temporary fabricated sheds as the construction on new college building has missed several deadlines.
Both the students and the Principal (who happens to be the only faculty) rue the poor infrastructure including lack of space for holding classes.
College Principal acknowledged the shortage and said that the nodal college has not sent any faculty to his college due to which the academic calendar has hit badly.
“Nine years after the college was established, the infrastructure of the institution remains to be in the worst condition,” locals rued and appealed concerned authorities to address the problem in the interest of the poor students.
