5 drug peddlers held, 400 corex bottles seized

Srinagar: Five drug peddlers have been arrested from parts of city here while two AK-47 rounds have been recovered from one of the peddlers.

A police official said four peddlers identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Hundoo son of Mohammad Ibrahim, Wajahat Raja son of Khursheed both residents of Gadoodbagh, Habakadal and Adnan Firdous Qureshi son of Firdous Ahmad of Mehjoornagar were arrested from Parimpora.

“Police recovered 400 corex bottles from their possession. A case under FIR 103/2016 U/S under section 8/21 NDPS has been registered in police station Parimpora,” he said.

The official further said that acting on a specific tip off about a drug peddler, a party from police post Noor Bagh laid a naka near Aali Majid Eidgah.

“The naka party intercepted a suspected person who was carrying a bag with him. During the frisking police found 50 bottles of codeine and 2 AK 47 rounds in the bag,” said the police official.

He identified the accused as Ovais Khan son of Farooq Khan resident of Shampora in Nowhtta. “An FIR vide No: 58/16 under section 8/21 NDPS and 7/25 Arms Act has been registered against the accused the police station Safa Kadal,” he added. GNS
