SRINAGAR: In a strange overturn of events, the Old City youth Friday sprung a surprise when they came out with flags denouncing the ISISa group active in Iraq and Syria which has carried out bombings and beheadings destroying many ancient Islamic cites besides killing thousands.
Things, this Friday, changed as the youth who would otherwise indulge in stone pelting and waving black ISIS flags, came out placards with slogans written on them questioning the IS ideology. You (ISIS) say, were not allowed to wage war against Israel but does Allah permit you to blow up mosques, a slogan written on a placard read.
After Friday congregational prayer Nowhatta protests would trigger prime time debates in major Delhi TV channels when they would show Kashmir youth waving black flags.
Indian media missed no opportunity to paint Kashmirs in the same black colour but todays events seem has changed the picture for the better.
The veiled protesters, today, waved anti-ISIS posters taking a dig at the outfit for mounting assaults on Masjids and killing innocent Muslims.
Notably, in the recent past, Daesh in its in-house monthly magazine, Dabiq, had threatened to expand to Kashmir. The Islamic States Khorasan wing is committed to expanding to Kashmir to fight the cow-worshipping Hindus and the apostates from factions allied to the idol-worshippers of Pakistan. The Kashmir Statement of so-called Daesh had come under severe criticism from across the ideological divide.
ISIS came to fore in 2014 June when it declared worldwide caliphate. ISIS was referred to as the Islamic State and named Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi as its so-called caliph.
