Police foil AIP’s march against Kupwara killings

Share

Srinagar: Police Tuesday foiled Awami Itehad Party’s (AIP) protest march and detained Er Rashid along with scores of activist who tried to march towards Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s residence against the Kupwara killings.
AIP President and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid took out a protest march from Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium towards CM residence.
The protesters were chanting slogans against forces, government and were demanding stern action against the force personnels involved in the killings of five civilians including a woman in Kupwara district in last week during subsequent protests.
Earlier talking to media, Er Rasheed said that Prime Minister Narendera Modi has yet again proved that he like other Indian leaders cannot feel the pain and sufferings of the Kashmiris and treats Kashmiris as enemies of India.
Rasheed said. “The least Modi could have done, would have been to announce arrest of killers who killed innocents in Handwara, Nutnusa and Drugmulla and should have apologised for the shameful act but preferred to give sermons at Mata Vishnov Devi University which were nothing but an insult to the injuries of People of Kashmir.”
He said that may Mehbooba Mufti answer that where went her hollow claims she used to make after her father’s demise that she will not compromise with the honour and dignity of Kashmiris but now not only honour and dignity but lives of Kashmiris are being treated of no worth.
“Modi in his speech confessed that Mehbooba talked of development and nothing beyond, thus she has again insulted the martyrs of Kupwara by not uttering a single word about Kashmir dispute or punishing the killers,” he said.
Rasheed said, “Though the only way to seek justice for martyrs of Handwara lies in resolution of Kashmir issue but the removal of army bunker in the Handwara Chowk and conceding to other five demands of locals of Handwara has given legitimacy to all that what people where chanting in form of slogans in Handwara.”
He said that the ‘terror Chowk’ has now turned to be a victory Chowk for the people of Handwara and a day will come when all epitomes of terror will be dashed to earth in every part of J&K.
MLA Langate demanded immediate shifting of army camp at Nutnusa and also condemned the government order suspending five government employees of district Kupwara for their participation in the protests. “The puppet administration which is being controlled directly from New Delhi needs to understand that every government employee is first a Kashmiri and they can neither be deprived of their fundamental rights nor can they keep mum on seeing their fellow citizens succumbing to injuries.”
Nonetheless, as soon as the protesters reached to Gupkar road, police swung into action and detained scores of AIP activists along with its chief Engineer Rashid. They were taken into preventive custody at Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh.
Meanwhile, AIP’s spokesman in a statement issued to KNS condemned the government action for preventing of AIP volunteers from Kupwara, Handwara, Noorabad and other areas from joining the march to CM’s residence against Handwara killings.
