Jitendra chairs District Conclave on “Gram Uday se Bharat Uday” at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Union Minister for State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Prime Minister’s Office, Atomic Energy and Space Energy, Dr Jitendra Singh today launched the “Gram Uday se Bharat Uday” AbhIyan in State from Udhampur.
Dr Jitendra Singh was chief guest at the District Conclave while MLA Udhampur and Former Minister of State for Finance and IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta was guest of honour. District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary presided over the function. The conclave was organised on 125th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar.   
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh reiterated the commitment of the Central Government for strengthening Rural Economy through a series of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and flagship programmes. He informed that 58 works worth Rs 1.88 Cr were sanctioned for District Udhampur under MPLADS and process has been set into motion for establishment of a Radio Station here. He added that 6 new community halls have been provided in Ghordi, Krimchi-Mansar, Dhemma, Chenani, Battal-Ballian and Mand. He appreciated the DDC Udhampur and Project Rahat team for construction of a record 114 bridges, providing the much required vital infrastructure and employment to thousands of local youth. He also announced that in addition to Rs 40 Lakh provided to DDC for gap funding of bridges under Project Rahat more funds will be provided under MPLADS.
MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta called for strengthening water supply system in villages, development of agricultural lands, increasing farm production, skill development and constructing utility based assets. He lauded the exemplary asset construction through MGNREGA under Project Rahat and appreciated the DDC for this remarkable initiative and called for replication of the same in other sectors. He also pledged Rs 15 Lakh in support of Project Rahat under CDF.
Earlier, the DDC presented a detailed resume of initiatives launched for empowering rural areas, building vital assets, strengthening PRIs and participatory planning and development activities in the district. He highlighted the significance of public participation in Project Rahat, Project for Water Bodies, MGNREGA, IAY, 14th FC, Agriculture, Horticulture, IWMP and related sectors. He further presented the details of the 11 day village self governance campaign involving participation of lakhs of people and hundreds of activities and events that have been planned in the district.
ADC Angrez Singh Rana, Project Officer DRDA, District Officers, SDMs, Block and Tehsil Officers, field officials of all departments, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Village Education Committees, Health & Sanitation Committees attended the conclave.
