SRINAGAR: Stating that development and welfare of people is prime priority of government, the Minister of State for Forest, Environment & Ecology, Fisheries, Zahoor Ahmad Mir Tuesday said that all possible measures will be taken in this regard.
The Minister said this while visiting Pampore Constituency to take stock of developmental works besides to get first hand appraisal of public issues.
During his tour, the Minister accompanied by Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Javaid Jaffer, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Neeraj Kumar and other officers visited Wuyan, Chatlam Lalpora, Namlabal and other areas of the Constituency.
While inspecting Khrew-Pampore rivulet (koul) at Wuyan, the Minister directed the concerned to remove the encroachments on the stream and take up the desiliting process to increase the outflow so that local population is benefitted. He also directed cleaning of the stream besides immediate plugging of breaches if any to avoid water seeping into crop fields.
On the occasion the Minister also visited Chatlam Lalpora, where locals demanded dewatering of crop land for which the Minister gave on spot directions.
He also inspected the dewatering pump station there and announced Rs 10 lakh for its upgradation. He also directed the Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control and Deputy Commissioner to take up the upgradation work on the pump station and ensure its proper functioning to facilitate the local population.
