Bandipora: A local court Tuesday issued proclamation notice against three absconding former government gunmen in a case pertaining to murder of 7 civilians at Sadarkoot Bala area of North Kashmirs Bandipora district in 1996.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Sumbal ordered issuance of the notices under CrPC against Rasheed Parrey alias Billa son of Ghuam Hassan Parray, a resident of Parra Mohalla Hajin, Ayoub Dar son of Lassa Dar of Hakhbora and Wali Mir son of Maqsood Mir of Dudwan Sadarkoot Bala after the Police Department informed that non-bailable warrants against them could not be executed.
“As warrants issued against accused Rasheed Billa, Ayoub Dar and Wali Mir have returned unexecuted, a request has been made by the Investigating Officer (IO) for issuance of proclamation notice under sections 82 (proclamation for person absconding) of CrPC. In view of this, notice under sections 82 of CrPC be initiated against them,” the magistrate according to CNS said adding that the accused are required to appear before this court to answer within 30 days.
Police sources informed that the property of all the three accused have been attached by Police.
Earlier, on November 15 last year, the court had issued non-bailable warrants against the trio after the IO informed that they were evading arrest.
On October 5, 1996, the government gunmen allegedly killed seven persons, including two women and five men at Saderkoot, a village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district . Fifteen others were also injured in the firing. According to the family members of the victims the Ikwanis (government gunmen) barged into their residential house and started indiscriminate firing on civilians without any reason or provocation, murdering seven persons.
