Div Com directs formulating SoPs to Pvt Umrah operators

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon Monday directed framing standard operating procedures (SoPs) to regulate the activates of private Hajj and Umrah tour operators.

He said this during a meeting of officers and a delegation of representatives of private Hajj and Umrah companies.

During the meeting Dr. Samoon was apprised with their issues they face in absence of any government regulation for conducting Umrah.

The Divisional Commissioner was informed that proper guidelines are in place for Hajj pilgrimage under private quota, however, no such guideline regulates Umrah pilgrimage organized by private tour operators.   On the occasion the Div Com asked the Executive Officer, J&K Hajj Committee, Srinagar to formulate SoPs in collaboration with various stake holders including the authorized tour operators for the benefit of people and tour operators alike.

He said that the SoPs should be readily available on the J&K Hajj Committee website. Besides, the concerned officers were also directed to give wide publicity about the authorized tour operators so that people can make an informed decision while planning their pilgrimage.
