JAMMU: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri Saturday cautioned the engineers of Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) that government would not tolerate any delay in the completion timelines of the ongoing projects. He directed Managing Director JKPCC to ensure regular monitoring and make Deputy General Managers (DGMs) at district level responsible for timebound completion of developmental projects.
The Minister was speaking during a meeting convened to review the pace of various ongoing developmental projects being executed by JKPCC, here today.
The Minister was apprised about the 158 developmental projects coming up in the state at an estimated cost of Rs.1800 crore, of which 34 projects are under R&B sector, 35 schemes under Health Sector, 39 projects of Education & Technical education and other 50 works of various departments.
The Minister also directed concerned officers to mobilise their men and machinery and prioritise the works on important ongoing projects which could be completed within next 6 months so that the targeted population is benefited. He asked to speed up the construction work on double lane bridge over Nikki Tawi which is coming up at a cost of Rs. 3025 lakh and is targeted to be completed by June 2017.He also directed for completion of motorable bridge over Anji Nallah at Kayala ,Reasi and Steel bridge over Neeru Nallah at Kulsari.
Reviewing the pace of Ganpath Bridge over River Chenab in Doda district, the Minister was informed that Rs. 2818 lakh have been spent on the execution of this prestigious bridge.
Mr. Veeri also reviewed the pace of some vital road projects in the state and directed engineers to speed up work on Parna Band road in Kishtwar which is coming up at a cost of Rs 376 lakh. He was informed that approach road connecting NH-1A with SMVD University executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 746 lakh stands completed and will be thrown open shortly.
Other projects which were reviewed include Degree College Nowshera, Bani, Girls Hostel at MAM college Jammu, trauma Hospital at Khellani, Doda, Community Health Centre at Mahore in Reasi. The Minister also stressed the need for clearing the bottlenecks impeding execution of developmental works in Kishtwar district and directed Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to take necessary action in this regard.
Among others, Financial Controller, General Managers and Deputy General Managers were present.
