7.1 magnitude quake jolts Kashmir

SRINAGAR: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 shook Kashmir Valley at 16 hours Sunday, sparking panic among the residents. 

The 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 4:00 pm at a depth of 236 kilometres with its epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, reports said.

Tremors were also felt in the New Delhi, witnesses said, forcing residents to leave homes. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Tremors were felt in Gilgit-Baltistan and surrounding areas. According to Reuters, tremors were also felt in  Afghanistan.
A report from Pakistan said, telephone networks have been disrupted in the affected areas and an emergency has been declared at all hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
