Water shortage hits Ganderbal villages

Srinagar :Shortage of drinking water in several villages of Ganderbal district has assumed chronic nature with the residents flaying the authorities for failing to redress the problem.

“Our area has been grappling with the water crisis for more than a decade which has now reached an unbearable point”, a group of villagers said.

The residents of villages Margund, Satrina, Kangan, Poshkar and Barnabugh said that presently none of the bore wells in the area are working.

The villagers said that donkeys ferrying water from springs, rivers and ponds is a common scene in Ganderbal areas. They urged the authorities to make contingency measures for redressing the alarming crisis of drinking water. (PTK)
