Hanjura for ensuring availability of genuine tree sprays, pesticides

Jammu : Taking serious note on non-functioning of State Pesticide Testing Lab at Srinagar and overall performance of conducting soil sampling and testing, Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura directed the concerned to ensure early functioning of the Lab. He also asked them to ensure testing of tree sprays and other pesticides.

This instruction was given by the Minister while reviewing the working of Agriculture, Command Area Development, Agro Industry Corporation and Sericulture Departments at Agriculture Complex, Talab Tillo Jammu, today.

Threadbare discussion was held on Prime Ministers Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Prime Ministers Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Soil Health Card Scheme, procurement of seeds, achievements registered under various Centrally Sponsored schemes and imparting of training programmes.

While discussing PMKSY, the Minister directed the concerned to conduct meeting of State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC) so that that the District Irrigation Plans (DIPS) are prepared and submitted to the Central Government for their necessary approval and release of funds.

The Minister also reviewed the preparedness of supply and stocking of various inputs including seeds and fertilizers for the ensuing Kharif Crop Season.

Mr. Hanjura called for chart out calendar and schedule for Mobile Soil Testing Vans so as to ensure achieving full targets of soil sampling and testing. He also directed them to give wide publicity through print and electronic media in this regard.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed upon all the officers to adhere to the directions and guidelines and personally monitor on-going schemes  across the State, adding that proper monitoring, judicious utilization of funds and optimal use of resources will ensure timely benefit to the people of the state in general and farming community in particular.

He further said that the Government is determined to bring transparency in its functioning at all levels and enjoined upon the officers to work with utmost dedication  and any kind of deficiency or lapse on part of officers will be viewed seriously and directed the concerned officers to  maintain punctuality in the offices.

Earlier, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, Mr R.K. Gupta briefed the meeting about the activities of the Agriculture, Sericulture , Command Area Development and Agro Industries Corporation sectors. Among others, Special Secretary APD, Director Finance APD, Director Planning APD, Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director CAD Jammu, Director CAD Kashmir, MD J&K Agro Industries Dev. Corporation, Director Sericulture J&K, Director Law Enforcement J&K, Deputy Secretaries APD, Chief Agriculture Officers and Deputy Directors of Sericulture departments were present  in the meeting.
