Govt. keen to give livestock sector a boost: Kohli

 JAMMU: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Mr. Abdul Ghani Kohli today reviewed the performance of the Department at an officers meeting here today.

Minister of State, Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Zahoor Ahmed Mir and Commissioner Secretary to Government, Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Mr. Vinod Koul were also present in the meeting.

Mr. Kohli said that the State Government is keen to give a boost to the livestock industry in the state and stressed upon officers of the department to work for sustainable growth, production of livestock, poultry and fisheries for nutritional security and economic prosperity of the state.

The Minister under scored the need for genetic up-gradation of local livestock to strengthen and improve livestock productivity and ensure a disease free livestock product supply chain for the state.

He stressed upon for conservation and development of natural resources for sustainable livestock and fish production and employment generation. Director Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu Dr Sant Ram, Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu Dr SL Bhagat, Director Fisheries J&K, R K Dogra, Joint Directors and other officers of the Department also attended the meeting.
