Bukhari for giving fillip to rural economy by reviving cooperative movement

Jammu : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari Thursday stressed on giving a fillip to the rural economy by making optimal use of the resources through cooperative societies.

This was stated by the Minister during a meeting convened to discuss the activities undertaken by the Cooperatives Department in North Kashmir to explore and promote the potential of cooperative societies.

Legislatures, Mr Javid Hassan Beigh, Mr Yaser Reshi, Secretary Cooperative, Mr Baseer Khan and Registrar Cooperative, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat were present in the meeting.

The Minister asked the concerned authorities to encourage the youth of the area for setting up cooperative societies for earning their livelihood and generating employment avenues. He said that the Cooperatives Department can play a vital role   in exploring the great potential in poultry, milk, fish, horticulture and sheep husbandry sectors through cooperative societies which hold key to socio economic emancipation of the rural masses. 

The Minister underscored the need to revive and strengthen the cooperative movement by creating mass awareness about the schemes and programmes of the department, besides conducting audit of the existing assets of the department.
