Abdul Haq reviews functioning of RDD

 

 

 JAMMU: The Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice Abdul Haq Khan   convened a high level meeting to review the functioning of   Rural Development Department here today.

Minister of State for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Sunil Sharma was also present in the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that all the developmental schemes are executed efficiently so that benefits reach the common masses.

 The Minister instructed the officers to ensure properly monitoring and execution of various RDD schemes including IAY, MGNREGA, RHS, SGSY, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, IWDP etc. at district levels. He stressed that tangible results should be visible on ground.

   For maintaining transparency and providing information to the people about welfare schemes being executed by the Government in rural areas, the Minister emphasized that the Monitoring Information System of the Department should be updated regularly.

  Haq also reviewed the achievements under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and asked the concerned authorities to mobilize manpower within the department or effective implementation of IWMP projects in all districts.

 Directors RDD Jammu and Director RDD Kashmir briefed the meeting about the achievements  of the department. The Minister directed for chalking out effective plans for carrying out works in convergence with the MGNREGA where ever it is possible. He further asked the concerned officers of Rural Development department to concentrate more upon development of infrastructure besides employment generation.

 The minister was informed by the Director NRLM that several innovative measures have been initiated to ensure phase wise implementation of the Livelihood Mission UMEED to cover all the blocks.

The Minister asked the officers to ensure effective implementation of the NRLM scheme so that employment opportunities are generated for the women especially living in rural and far-flung areas of the state.

 The Minister was also informed that a team from GoI is visiting Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region in the next month to inspect various executed works of Rural Development Department.  

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Sunil Sharma   said the coalition government believes in empowering people at all levels by taking governance at grass root level. He stressed on the need to further strengthen the Panchayat Raj system which is a potent tool in improving the living standards of rural masses. He asked the officers to hold Graham Sabhas on regular basis.

Secretary, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Spl. Secretary RDD, Director RDD Jammu , Director RDD Kashmir, Director Rural Sanitation, Director Panchyat J&K ,Mission Director NRLM, Additional Secretary (S), RDD, Director Finance RDD, Joint Director (P) RDD, State Nutrition Officer were present in the meeting.
