Srinagar: Opposition parties Monday criticised the Peoples Democratic Party-led government for ignoring the two capitals of the state by not giving representation to them in the council of ministers.
National Conference slammed the PDP-led government for ignoring the people of the Srinagar and Jammu cities.
Srinagar should have been considered in the new council of ministers because the city voters gave five assembly seats to the party in 2014 elections, Nasir Aslam Wani, provincial president of National Conference said.
Now, people should realise how much priority PDP gives to them in the government, he said.
State Congress chief G.A Mir on Monday accused the new government of ignoring both the capitals, saying not even a single minister was chosen from the legislators representing Srinagar and Jammu cities.
Mir said that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has failed to provide cabinet berth to any of the Srinagar representatives. It is unfortunate that the Srinagar representatives as well Jammu representative were ignored in this government, Mir said.
The PDP-led government has left the people of these capitals disappointed, he said.
Mehbooba Mufti became the first woman chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, and only second in the India, by taking oath at Raj Bhavan Monday forenoon, besides her 22 council of ministers.
