Mehbooba’s hoarding: Journalist quits ETV Network

Special correspondent at ETV Srinagar, Riffat Abdullah, on Monday resigned from his post in protest against the news channel for putting up big hoardings in the state capital and Jammu praising Mehbooba Mufti on becoming the first woman chief minister of the state.

With hoardings of Mehbooba Mufti with congratulatory message in Jammu city by ETV network, the issue has snowballed in to controversy with various sections raising fingers on the “objectivity and freedom of media”

Hours before the oath ceremony, ETV Urdu had placed big hoardings in Srinagar and Jammu congratulating Mehbooba Mufti for becoming the first woman chief minister of the state and termed her as daughter of Kashmir.

Confirming the development, Rifat took to Facebook to announce his decision, “Dear Friends I have resigned from ETV Network on Moral grounds. ETV management has installed hoardings praising Mehbooba Mufti and questions have been raised by people about ETV credibility. Therefore I resigned from ETV. I have never compromised with my principles and never supported any party or individual.”
