Senior PDP leader and former R&B minister Syed Altaf Bukhari while nullifying the reports of leading any pressure group within the party said on Monday that his main objective was to avoid thrusting another election upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
One a year was passed since the polls were held in 2014. I didnt want people to undergo further hardships. If anyone says I was leading the pressure group, I would say in return that my basic objective was to make Mehbooba Mufti states chief minister, Bukhari said.
He said that he is much happy to see Mehbooba becoming Jammu and Kashmirs chief minister. This was the wish of our beloved leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. I always wanted that dream to be fulfilled. Everyone wanted Mehboobaji to assume states top post and that is the reason that we choose her as Legislative Party leader and not anyone else, Bukhari said.
In a scathing attack against Srinagars parliament member Tariq Hameed Karra, Bukhari said Karra has been changing stands every then and now. He is a chameleon. He has been changing colours since the day BJP-PDP coalition was formed last year in the state. I have nothing personal against Tariq Karra. I respect him as a senior but the way he has been changing colours is utterly disgraceful.
When asked about the reasons behind him being dropped in Mehboobas cabinet, Bukhari said he has family relations with the Muftis and that it was only this relation that made him to contest elections in 2014 and registering triumph. It is the prerogative of the chief minister to choose the cabinet. I respect the decision of Mehbooba Mufti and have no grudges at all. My being the minister or not would not affect my association with the PDP. I would continue to strive for strengthening it, Bukhari said.
He maintained further that he would continue to work for the overall development of Srinagar and would not allow anyone to ignore the summer capital at any cost. I can assure you that no one can afford to ignore Srinagar. We will act as the pressure group for Srinagars growth and development. We will not vanish but will keep fighting for Srinagar- this much I can assure you with certainty.
Bukhari stated that in view of the municipal polls which are forthcoming, partys priority would be to sweep the municipal polls and emerge victorious. We will galvanize our energies to take control of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. We will win it and we have to focus on that.

Boycotts swearing-in ceremony, wanted ouster of 3 leaders
Jammu: After a revival of ties with the party leadership, Member Parliament Tariq Hamid Karra is back to his mode of boycott. The latest was Monday when the PDP heavyweight boycotted oath taking ceremony of Ms Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu.
In recent past, Karra was seen along with Ms Mufti, the development seen as apparent indication of Mehbooba reaching to disgruntled leader for reconciliation.
Sources said that before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mehbooba called upon Karra in an attempt to get him back in party fold. The step taken well by Karra, he was along with Ms Mufti in meeting of electing legislature party leader for whole day.
After that Karra along with Muzaffar Hussain Beigh accompanied party president to governor for claiming the stake of government formation.
However, responding to todays boycott, Karra told NDTV, I had a meeting Mehbooba Ji till late last night. I wanted three ministers who have played a dubious role and are responsible for the failure of Mufti Mohammad Saeed to be dropped.
Karra had alleged that they plotted to form government in alliance with the BJP without Ms Mufti as she refused to take oath for three months after her fathers death.
Pertinently, former Minister for PWD, Altaf Bukhari, was shown door.
This probably has not gone well with Karra as he wanted all of three to be not included in the ministry. He is back in his zone of boycott.
Karra owes an explanation: Er Rasheed
SRINAGAR: AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er Rashid lambasted PDP MP Tariq Hameed Karra for his inconsistency over his stand on alliance between PDP and BJP.
In a statement issued today Er Rashid said. The man who was talking about sentiments, aspirations and rights of Kashmiri people, accusing and abusing BJP for its communal and anti Kashmir policies and advising PDP to snap its ties with the BJP, is now astonishingly boycotting the oath ceremony for the reason that why new faces were not inducted in Mehbooba Muftis Cabinet.
May Mr. Karra explain what changed from past two months that persuaded him to not only support the alliance but he seemed instrumental in patching the alliance between PDP and BJP.
Mr. Karra owes an explanation that what happened to his tall promises and sermons while he was calling BJP untouchable day in and day out and was trying to prove himself as a pioneer of Kashmiri interests. Karra Must reveal, that what persuaded him to first fall in line with Miss Mehbooba and then he had to back track, citing a very irrelevant reason. Er Rashid said.
Mr. Karra would have liked to exploit the sentiments of Kashmiris yet again after boycotting the oath ceremony and citing the reason that BJP is unholy and untouchable but he had already exposed himself and is proving to be another Mehboob Baig of Kashmir Politics.
Mr Karra needs to remember that Kashmiris will now neither get impressed by his confusing and suspicious politics, nor will forgive Mehbooba Mufti for the cheapest sell-out.
