Srinagar: Sikhs living in Valley demand representation in PDP-BJP government that will be sworn-in soon.
The representatives of the minority community in the State said that they are being discriminated against by all the elected governments and were used only as vote bank.
Our population is considered as voters only by all the main political parties in the State and particularly in Kashmir valley. Being a minority community, we should be given political representation in the upcoming government, Jagmohan Singh Raina, president of All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC ) said.
Raina said that representation in government as MLAs and MLCs in reservation quota is given to all the communities, but only Sikhs are ignored.
Women, Kashmiri Pandits have representation in the government. BJP has made Sikh MLC from Jammu. Only Sikhs in Kashmir are not given their right, Raina said.
The APSCC president said that PDP has promised to Sikhs during 2014 election campaigns that national minority act will be implemented in the state.
But the promise is yet to be fulfilled. Late Mufti Sahab had publically committed to us that he will implement national minority act. We hope that the Chief Minister designate Mehbooba Mufti will fulfill her fathers commitment with us, he said.
