Srinagar: Veteran director Mani Ratnam who is known for visual celluloid on screen is returning to Kashmir after 24 years.

According to sources, after a series of delays and changes in cast, he finalised Karthi and Premam fame Sai Pallavi. Dulquer Salmaan who was originally slated to act in this movie opted out citing date issues and Karthi bagged this project. The actor is going to play the role of a pilot and Sai Pallavi is a doctor.

For the first time, Karthi will be joining hands with Mani Ratnam. The movie is supposed to be a romantic film and for the ones who still remember Roja, the expectations have already skyrocketed especially for Malar fans. It is rumored that the plot could be similar to Roja.

The regular shooting will take place from September. The first schedule will start in Kashmir with the leading star cast.

AR Rahman is composing music for this film and this is his 13th film with Mani Ratnam. The film is produced by Madras Talkies and Ravi Varma will crank the camera.

Bollywood super hit movie Roja was released in the year 1993.The story is based on a story of abduction of an IOC official from the south by Kashmiri militants. The movie moves from a village in south India’s Tamilnadu to the snow capped mountains of Kashmir taking along with the audience from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
