Jammu: Governor N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, visited Katra today to inspect the progress of the Boards various ongoing major infrastructural development projects including operationalisation of the 230-bedded Superspeciality Hospital, being established by the Shrine Board at Kakryal.
The Governor was accompanied by Mr. B.R Sharma, Chief Secretary; Mr. B.B Vyas, Financial Commissioner Planning and Development Department; Mr. K. Rajendra, DGP; Mr. Pradip K. Tripathi, Principal Secretary to Governor; Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of Shrine Board; Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University; Mrs. Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Mr. Surinder Kumar, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range; Mr. Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi; engineers and other concerned officers.
The Governor took stock of the construction and upgradation of the approach roads to SMVDU and the Superspeciality Hospital including Domel-Katra, Panthal-Jhajjar, National Highway-1A to the Superspeciality Hospital, Tikri-Panthal-Katra Road, road from Railway Station, Katra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
The Governor also visited the Shrine Boards Sports Complex at Katra to review its preparedness for operationalisation. This state-of-the-art Sports Complex has been completed at a cost of about Rs.11 crore.
It is pertinent to mention that the Governors visit to Katra was to take stock of the preparedness for the upcoming Prime Minister of Indias visit to Katra for inauguration of the Super Speciality Hospital in April this year. (PTK)
Guv addresses Union Minister for help in release of pension funds under NSAP
Jammu: Governor N.N. Vohra, has addressed Choudhary Birender Singh, Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, regarding a number of pending pension cases for old age, widows and the disabled in the State. These pensions are an integral constituent of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Union Ministry of Rural Development. The State Government also contributes towards such pensions @ Rs.200 per month per beneficiary.
The Governor has requested the Union Minister to allow inclusion of pending cases numbering 20,510 (80 yrs and above) and 50,924 (60 to 79 years) under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS); 2,366 cases under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) and 3,923 cases under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) with annual financial implication of Rs. 2679.19 lakh for these 77,723 pending cases. Besides, nearly 11,123 cases are awaiting sanction under the National Family Benefit Scheme under which one time assistance @ Rs. 20,000 is offered to BPL families who lose their bread winners.
The Governor has sought Mr. Singhs personal intervention for the urgent settlement of this long pending matter.
