Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Employees Provident Fund employees and Labour Department Non-Gazetted Employees Union observed one day strike on Wednesday to press for Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting.
Shouting slogans in favour of conduction of DPC, scores of employees from different districts of the state assembled in Batamaloo office premises and demanded immediate conduction of DPC.
Most of the employees of our organization are posted at the same position for the last 28 years and the higher authorities are least bothered about them, Irshad Ahmad Shah, President J&K Provident Fund Organisation Employees Union, said.
It is pertinent to mention that the department has not conducted any DPC from last three years, he said.
“After today’s successful strike Labour Commissioner has fixed the date for holding of DPC for Labour Department employees on March 18, 2016 and we hope that same old delaying tactics will not repeated this time,” Saleem Zargar, President Labour Department Non-Gazetted Employees Union, said.
However, date for holding of DPC for Employees Provident Fund employees will be decided on April 4, 2016, he added.
Later, in the afternoon emergency meeting of the executive members of both the unions it was decided to defer any further programme till April 4.
“If the date of DPC for Provident Fund Employees is not fixed by April 4, then the unions will chalk out a fresh strike programme,” Zarger added. (PTK)
