Vohra asks Jaitley to ‘urgently’ release funds

JAMMU:  Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra today requested Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to “urgently” release funds which are “due” to the state.

“The Governor in a letter to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley requested him to urgently release funds due to the state,” an official spokesperson said.

Vohra sought the minister’s intervention to release Rs 800 crore for providing interest subvention to traders and business enterprises affected by the floods, he said.

He also asked Mr Jaitley to release the last instalment of the state’s share in Central Taxes (2015-16), besides Rs 649 crore due as last instalment under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rs 305 crore under MGNREGA, the spokesperson said.

Vohra thanked the Union Finance Minister for releasing Rs 1,194 crore for disbursement of relief to the flood affected house owners and informed that till now almost Rs 1,000 crore has been disbursed to flood affected persons, he said.
