Anantnag: The students and parents of Government Middle school Dragdan Hapatnad are up in arms against the education department for its failure to address shortage of staff and infrastructure in school. The Students along with their parents some days back staged a protest demonstration against the education department, alleging official apathy in maintaining adequate staff in the schools of the area.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, some of the parents of the students said that there is great injustice with the people of this area.For the strength of more than 150 students in the government school, the education department had deputed just two teachers, which shows seriousness of the state in maintaining rationality, The department didnt came here from last four year said Gulzar Ahmad, a Parent. He further said that the school has been craving for the staff since last four to five years, but the government and education department is least concerned about it.
We want to our childs become doctors, engineers etc. but the only two teachers seen in school is looking that they will never become. Due to this the children are deprived of basic right to education He added. Meanwhile the school was established primary school in 2010 and in 2013 the school was upgraded Middle school. Talking to Kashmir observer the in charge Headmaster Abdul Hameed Khan told that I request several times to higher authorities to look into the matter and provide us more teachers because the students roll in school is above hundred but the authorities didnt bothered. Now we teach combined classes from first to eight how a second class student learnt eight class subject. He added.
However sources told to Kashmir observer that some schools in District Anantnag have more teachers instead of students roll in schools. But the authorities didnt transfer those teachers because they are reputated. Meanwhile we contacted to the CEO Anantnag but his phone was switched off.
