Srinagar: In a flagrant violation of High court orders, the Power Development Department (PDD) officials here have installed a transformer in Dal Lake premises. However, Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) are acting as mute spectator with taking no action over it.
Sources told KNS that the PDD officials have erected an electric pole and are installing transformer in the Dal lake premises near the hotel Akbar here. The LAWDA officials are nowhere to stop the ongoing work in the area, they informed.
They said that the PDD officials are in hand-in-Glove with the high approached local in the area and are unnecessarily changing the location of transformer by shifting it from residential area to Dal premises.
We approached LAWDA and asked them to take action in this regard but nothing has been done in this regard, a local resident said, adding that if the LAWDA officials are not allowing local residents here to raise their buildings in the Dal premises then they should also take action against the officials flouting norms.
DSP LAWDA told KNS that they are going to register a case against the PDD officials for erecting an electric pole in Dal premises. I sent my team comprising of senior officials to the spot to stop the ongoing work conducted by the PDD officials, he said.
He said that LAWDA wont allow anyone to raise their building or install anything in the Dal premises. It is yet to be confirmed that who allowed the laborers to start work in Dal premises but whosoever will flout norms will face Police action, he said. (KNS)
