Lady patient kept hungry for two days in Surgical unit without operation

Srinagar:  A lady patient from Palhalan town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district Friday alleged that she was kept hungry in an operation theater for the two consecutive while the doctor without conducting surgery asked her to visit the hospital for the for the same purpose next month..

“I was asked to get admitted in the hospital for laparoscopic surgery on March 19 but was sent back that day. The Doctor advised me to arrive in the hospital for the surgery on 22 March. He even asked my brother to purchase some surgical equipment from the market. I was taken into the Surgical Unit 1st  for the surgery. For the two days, I was not allowed to take any food and after two days, the doctor asked me to vacate from the operation theater with the word that he will conduct surgery on March 30,” the patient (name withheld) told CNS.

The lady patient lodged a complaint against the doctor alleging that the said doctor prefers to see influential patients. Principal Government Medical College shortly after receiving the complaint constituted a committee to probe the incident. “We don’t discriminate between the patients. If allegations prove correct, stern action will be taken against the doctor,” Principal GMC Dr Qaiser said. (CNS)
