High Court Quashes PSA Detention of North Kashmir Student

Share

Srinagar: The High Court Friday quashed the detention order of a North Kashmir student after it was convinced that the youth is pursuing college degree and the detention could endanger his future.

A Single Bench of the High Court Justice Muzaffar Hussain Athar while quashing the detention of Danish Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Dangar Mohalla Hajin directed the government to release him immediately if he is not required in any other case.

The court passed the direction on a petition filed by the detainee through his counsel Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak challenging the order on the ground that Danish is a 2nd year student and his detention eclipse his future.

The government had slapped detention order (06/DMB/PSA) against the detainee on December, 03, 2015 following which he was detained and lodged in sub-jail Kupwara. Police had arrested him on charges of ‘subversive’ activities in August 2015 vide FIR number 63/2015 under section 148,149,427,336,353 RPC. (CNS)
