Rainwater inundates several shops in Handwara

Kupwara: While the Valley continued to receive rains for the third consecutive day on Friday, the rainwater, which was accumulated in area, inundated several shops in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

According to locals, the rainwater inundated several shops in Handwara due to the blockage of drainage in the area. They said that muddy water submerged near about ten shops in their area.

Locals told KNS that they are facing immense hardships due to the poor drainage system in the area. “The authorities didn’t pay heed over our sufferings with the poor drainage system,” locals said.

Locals demanded that the authorities should take necessary steps immediately in this regard. 

Tehsildar Handwara, Bashir Ahmad told KNS that machines have been deployed to dewater their shops. “The drainage system in the area will also be repaired soon,” he said. (KNS)
