ANANTNAG: To provide financial assistance to the people belonging to weaker sections of the society, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch, Sagam today organized a financial literacy cum loan distribution camp.
District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Muneer ul Islam who was the Chief Guest on the occasion distributed low-interest loan cheques amounting to Rs 11.5 lakh among 26 beneficiaries belonging to weaker sections of the society under Umeed and Differential Rate of Interest (DRI) schemes.
The loans were sanctioned to provide liquidity to people belonging to BPL and other financially weaker sections of the society to establish self help groups and income generating units.
The Deputy Commissioner while lauding the efforts of J&K bank for providing the much needed financial assistance to the people especially to the educated unemployed youth the DDC urged upon the urged upon the beneficiaries to utilize the loan amount by setting up viable income generating units to elevate their economic standard. Stressing on the beneficiaries to install self help groups at the community level, he said that self help groups are playing a pivotal role by providing employment opportunities to educated unemployed youth.
The awareness camp was attended by Zonal Head J&K Bank, Fayaz Ahmad, Lead Bank Manager G.M Mufti, Cluster Heads besides other officials of the bank.
