Hurriyat leaders invited for ‘Pakistan Day’ on Mar 23

Srinagar: Pakistan has invited Hurriyat leaders to attend the ‘Pakistan Day’ function on March 23 in New Delhi, which will be observed at Pakistan embassy in the India’s capital.

The invitation has been sent to both the factions of Hurriyat Conference, civil society members and some journalists.

Confirming the invitation, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar told KNS that the Pakistan High Commissioner has formally invited Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, General Secretary TeH Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hurriyat (G) general secretary Shabir Shah, provincial president Aga Syed Hassan, provincial president Nayeem Khan, himself and other senior leaders.

Hurriyat (M) Conference Media advisor Shahid ul Islam confirmed to KNS that the Pakistan High Commissioner has invited Hurriyat (M) chairman Dr Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and 34 other senior leaders including executive body members Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Moulana Abas Ansari, Advocate Shahid Islam, Hilal War, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, advocate Abdual Majeed banday, Musadiq Adil, Javiad Mir, Mushtaq Sofi and other senior leaders.

“We are going to attend the Pakistan Day function and our delegations will be headed by Chairman Dr Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,” Islam told KNS.

Besides Hurriyat leaders, Editor-in-Chief of Urdu daily Asain Mail, Rasheed Rahil has also been invited. (KNS)
