78.11% target achieved in Kulgam during current financial year

KULGAM : The District Development Commissioner, Kulgam, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah convened a  meeting to review the physical and financial progress achieved under District Plan, State Plan and Centrally Sponsored Schemes. 

It was given out in the meeting that the District Plan for the District has been approved for Rs 126.44 Cr and  against the availability of funds to the tune of Rs 69.80Cr, 78.11 % expenditure has been made till February, 2016.

Under R&B Sector, out of availability of Rs 574.34 lakhs, Rs 334.66 has been spent and 59 Killometers of road length has been macadamized. The academic Block of Degree College D.H Pora has been completed and was inaugurated on 21 of   September 2015.  Besides Aiwan –U-Sanat Hirfat (DIC Complex) executed by JKPCC with an estimated cost of Rs 4.20Cr stands inaugurated .While under irrigation sector, 20 Hectares of CCA have been covered during 2015-16 to boost the irrigation sector in the district.

Similarly under PHE Sector, under  NABARD, out of available amount of Rs 313 lac, Rs 192 lacs has been spent by the end of February while work on four major Filteration plants in the district including Tangalbal –Tangan, Yamarch –Daderkoot, Yaripora town and Pahloo-Kilam are near completion.

Under Education Sector, 373 Primary Schools, 16 Middle Schools sanctioned for upgradation have been made functional. Seven School buildings including Nillow, Banimullah, Okay, Yaroo-Tangmarg, C.R Pora and Batpora stands completed in the current financial year besides as many as 37608 students have been covered by way of providing Midday meals and free text books.

Under Health 7.74 lac patients have attended in OPDs and IPDs and 1544 major and  4986 minor surgeries were conducted besides 585 number of spectacles have been distributed free of cost to school children for correction of Myopia.

Under MGNREGA, 6810 works have been completed including 345 spill-over with a financial implication of Rs 42.33Cr thereby generating as many as 847470 man days for 57496 job cardholders in the current financial year.

It was also given in the meeting that a prefabricated hut is coming up at tourist spot Kangwatan at an estimated cost of Rs 4.2 lac. Besides, as many as 20000 broad-leaved plants have been planted at three spots including Banimulla, Waltengoo and Nagam areas of the district.

DDC directed the ACD and Social Conservation Officer to chalk out  a joint plan for converging soil conservation works under MGNERGS. Exhorting upon the need for boosting the sericulture sector  in the district, he directed the Sericulture Department to come up with a comprehensive plan for the development of this sector so as to provide employment avenues to the educated unemployed youth.

The District Development Commissioner enjoined upon the officers to gear up the men and machinery at grass root level so that funds are utilized properly for achievements of set targets in full .

Besides Chief Planning Officer, CEO ADA, Superintendent Engineers of PHE, PDD & R&B, Divisional General Manager JKPCC, ACD, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Officers of Animal Husbandry, Forest, Soil Conservation, Education, Fisheries, UDD and other district officers were also present in the meeting.
