Loss of lives in road mishaps major concern: RTO

SRINAGAR: Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir Farooq Ahmed Rather on Thursday expressed concern over the frequent accidents in the state and subsequent loss of lives.

Speaking during a Traffic awareness campaign in Srinagar, Rather said the major concern for the government is to stop loses of lives and various measures are being taken in this regard to save precious lives.

He said on an average three person die in traffic accident daily in Kashmir. He said the department focuses on creating mass awareness about traffic rules and sensitize people about the road accidents. “I appeal people to follow lane driving, use crash helmets, don’t obstruct the movement of others, don’t overtake, board and alight from the vehicles on designated bus stops,” he said

Earlier RTO inaugurated a painting cum drawing competition for Traffic awareness organized by Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides Kashmir.

Students from educational institutions of various districts participated in the painting competition.
