Srinagar: Police on Wednesday foiled a march of by state government employeesÂ’ joint action committee to Raj Bhawan in Jammu.
According to the reports reaching GNS, a large number of employees assembled at old Mubarak Mandi Complex and later started their march by raising slogans against government for failing to meet their demands
As the protesters headed by Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Sushil Sudan, Suresh Sharma, Subash Verma, B.A Meer were moving ahead, a large contingent of police reached the spot and stopped the employees from reaching the Raj Bhawan by resorting to lathicharge. As the employees showed resistance despite the use of force, the police arrested a number of their leaders. Later, two of them, Aijaz Khan and Sushil Sudan were taken to governor house where they handed over the memorandum of their demands.
The SGEJAC seeks sanctioning of dislocation allowance to the employees working in the rural areas , immediate release of 6% DA, removal of pay anomalies of all the cadres including clerical cadre, enhancement of Medical Allowance to three thousand (Rs 3000), regularization of all the daily wagers working before and after 1994, reorganization and Budgetary support to the PSU employees, timely release of salary to SSA, 2211 family welfare head, Anganwari head and Reorganization of various departments including the municipality.
It also demands government to hold regular DPCs, setting up of the appropriate committee for analyzing and implementation of the 7th pay Commission report in the state so as to minimize the chances of confrontation, merger of state Forest Corporation with Forest Department, declaration of 5 days week to the employees working outside the Civil Secretariat, announcement of Health Insurance Policy as discussed and decided with all the stake holders by the Principal Secretary Finance without disturbing the existing Medical Reimbursement Rules , Role back of Income Tax on EPF interest and negotiation with the Female staff of KGBV who are on hunger strike.
Talking to GNS, a number of SGEJAC leaders warned to intensity protests and said that future course of action will be announced in consultation with all the trade union leaders. (GNS)
