Div Com orders immediate halting of constructions on Saffron land

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today chaired a high level meeting regarding the illegal constructions on saffron fields.

Divisional Commissioner was informed that various places in 27 villages of Pampore area are occupied by encroachers.

The Div Com directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to curb illegal constructions immediately and initiate legal action against the violators.

Divisional Commissioner constituted a committee which comprises DC Pulwama, Joint Director, Agriculture, and concerned Tehsildars to monitor the illegal constructions and subsequently report to the Div Com on weekly basis. Further, Saffron Mission project was thoroughly discussed in the meeting where officials of agriculture department informed that the total project cost of Saffron Mission is Rs 400.11 crore, including centre share of Rs 315.99 crore and farmer’s share of Rs 84.12 crores for the period of 8 years.
