DC Kulgam unveils NABARD’s Potential Linked Credit Plan 2016-17

KULGAM: The potential Credit Plan (PLP) prepared by NABARD for 2016-17 was unveiled by District Development Commissioner Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah in a District Level convergence meeting here today. The meeting was attended by representatives of various Banks and NABARD.

The meeting was called to review the progress of linking Annual Credit Plan (ACP) with District Development Plan (DDP) besides enhancing the ground link credit plans with the beneficiaries.

The Deputy Commissioner sought the suggestions from all banks and allied departments to enhance the credit flow.

It was given in the meeting that NABARD has estimated a credit potential of Rs. 550.60Cr for the year 2016-17 under priority sector, with a growth of 18 percent over projection for the year 2015-16. The District Development Manager NABARD said that PLP has been prepared keeping in view the revised guidelines from centre government and RBI. It was revealed in the meeting that the document was drafted in consultation with Block/District level officials and Banks.

Deputy Commissioner emphasized upon the banks to increase the lending in Agriculture and allied sectors to generate employment avenues in the District. He highlighted the need for specific area activity schemes for integrating the farming with allied activities for multiple income generation. It was stressed upon the banks to utilize the plan document while setting up their targets under credit plans. 

On the occasion the role of NABARD was appreciated for bringing out the potential document of the District for its adoption in the next financial year and it will serve as a reference guide to banks and government department.

The meeting was also attended by Lead Bank Manager, representatives of all other banks, besides representatives of Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Handicrafts, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture, Apiculture, and Industry department.
