Plastics, the only mantra forward – Gail

NEW DELHI: The recycling & reuse of plastics could be a foremost step towards fostering innovation and sustainability, Gail-Plastasia shared the mantra with Capital while concluding the four day expo here on Sunday, also increased awareness through help of industry groups and removed myths that Indian Plastic industry has environmental concerns and lacks in technology to counter it. Prof M V Rajeev Gowda said , “recycling is certainly a boon for a hassle free environment.”    

“The success of the expo is assessed by the turnout and business expansion and satisfaction of the participants in the show. We have achieved all three things which is very satisfying” said Cyril Pereira, MD Triune, organizers of Gail-Plastasia. 

The turnout has also removed all skepticism from the minds of the participants who were fearful of about the response of the capital. “We are very happy. We were in two minds about our participation in the event however the response of the expo removed all doubts from our mind” said Executive Strategy &Brand Manager of Windsor Machines, Harshwardhan Singh.

Registering innovative technologies, big business orders have given boost to the global participants that northern India can become a hub of the industry. “ I have been told by a Chinese company that they bagged a huge order from a Indian manufacturing company. The participants were expressing their willingness to participate again” added Mr PK Gupta. Executive Director, Marketing (PC & Retail Gail) 

With 33 Indian & Global partners and with a total of 429 companies, of which 106 were overseas players and ready with the strategy to capture the northern region. Currently, the industry is spread across the country, employing about 4 million people and over 2,000 exporters. It operates more than 30,000 processing units, of which 85 per cent to 90 per cent are small and medium enterprises.

Mr Ravi, MD, Techno Machines said while displaying a wide range new generation industrial plastic machineries that includes food and beverage bottle, pharmacy grade bottle, hygiene grade baby feeding bottle and space bottle, lampshade

and bulb case, ” there bulb case machines can produce 800 to 900 bulb cases depending upon the size per hour, the whole process including mould injection, stretch

blowing and off-molding can be finished within one step, this means a lot energy savings and high quality of products. He added, “there injection blowing molding products are thinner and better uniformity than old style ones, which would save 50 per cent materials”, he added.

“The hopes were high and participants want to exchange information. The conference organized alongside has really added to the whole kitty” said Senior Executive of Matsui Technologies India Limited, Nitesh Suhaag.

Apart from Indian industries, there was remarkable representation from the industry players of South Asia. People have exchanged and shared issues and solutions during the conference.
