J&K Bank opens business unit in Jammu, conduct camps in valley

Srinagar: J&K Bank Wednesday commissioned one more business unit at Jammu in Block Bhawal.

The bank’s Vice-President and Zonal Head Jammu (C) Arvind Gupta inaugurated the business unit at Nardani Raipur in presence of Cluster Head Rajesh Gupta, Head B.U Suresh Kumar Gupta along with valuable customers, senior citizens and other local residents.

Meanwhile, making people aware about the basics of banking and finance J&K Bank conducted various financial literacy camps, which were financially supported by NABARD in Shopian, Kulgam and Ganderbal districts.

Shopian Camps

In collaboration with the Lead Bank Office and B.U Batpora Shopian, the bank’s FLCC Centre Shopian organized an awareness programme in Zoura village which was attended by a large gathering comprising of local residents and those from adjoining areas. 

Facilitator FLCC Shopian M A Jan informed the audience about financial planning, advantages of saving with banks and better ways of managing expenditures. 

The audience was educated about social security schemes like PMSBY, PMJJY and APY. Besides discussing PMJDY, the participants were asked to avail loans from banks as individuals or by forming Self Help Groups or Joint Liability Groups for which a number of NGO’s approved by NABARD are working in the field.

Lead Bank Officer Shopian, Head B.U Batpora and Representative from RSETI Shopian also spoke on the occasion.

Similar camps were conducted at Kharwara and Nildora villages in collaboration by B.U Herman, LBO Shopian and FLCC Shopian.

Kulgam Camps

The bank’s B.U Devsar conducted an awareness camp at Town Hall Devsar in collaboration with FLCC Center Kulgam and NABARD wherein a large number of gathering, mostly farmers and artisans from village Akhall, Dardgund and Devsar villages participated.

LDM Kulgam G N Dar, Cluster Head Malik Shabir Ahmad and Head B.U Devsar educated the audience about basics of budgeting, how to make savings and its related schemes like PMJDY besides basics of finance and related schemes like PM’s Mudra Yojana and other government sponsored schemes. The audience was also apprised about insurance schemes like PMSBY, PMJJY and Atal Pension Yojana.

Ganderbal Camps

The bank’s B.U Tullamulla organized a financial literacy camp at Theeru village (RBI adopted) in Ganderbal in collaboration with LBO Ganderbal, Reserved Bank of India and NABARD Srinagar.

Senior officer of RBI Anil Reshi, In-charge LDM Ganderbal Shafat Maqbool Kitab and Facilitator FLCC Ganderbal Reyaz Ahmad Kawoosa attended the camp wherein a large number of local residents including women participated. 

Speaking at the camp Anil Reshi (RBI) spoke about various loan and social security schemes provided by the banks besides the clean note policy of RBI. He stressed upon the participants to approach banks for availing different facilities for establishing their income generating businesses unit.

Shafat Maqbool Kitab and Reyaz Ahmad Kawoosa explained in detail about Self-Help Groups and Joint Liability Groups (SHG/JLG) and stressed need of forming of such SHG/JLGs to avail benefits of various loan scheme introduced by banks/NABARD etc.
