ANANTNAG: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. G.H. Sheikh today chaired an officers meeting to review the progress of 4-laning of National Highway stretch, falling within the territorial jurisdictions of district Anantnag. He laid emphasis on the timely completion of the target before the deadline as the Prime Minister of India is himself monitoring the progress of the project.
The meeting was attended by SDM Dooru, SE I&FC, Exn PHE, Irrigation, Hydraulic, and other engineering wings, District Officer G&M, DGM RAMKY, Tehsildars and police officers.
The concerned officers were directed to strictly adhere to the High Court directions issued from time to time regarding the extraction of river-bed materials.
Teams of officers under the supervision of concerned Tehsildars were constituted to identify the spots where the extraction of the material for the national highway can be made. Besides, they were directed to devise a modus operandi for regulating the river-bed material extraction in these nallahs.
Moreover, the concerned officers were directed to ensure that no material extraction takes place within a radius of 500 metres of bridges and the take-off points of various irrigation channels. RAMKY officers were directed to make available the list of contractors alongwith registration numbers of the vehicles especially tippers being employed by them for drudging/extraction of the river-bed material. Besides, they were directed to engage the local manpower, wherever, necessary and preference be given to the manual extraction over the mechanical one so that the local resistance, if any, is addressed primarily.
RAMKY officers were directed to ensure that the extracted material be strictly utilized for national highway project only as private utilization of the material will not be tolerated in any case.
ADC urged all the officers to work in close coordination so that work is executed in a hassle-free manner and set targets are met well within time.
