Mysterious death of 7th grader

Srinagar: A Bemina family whose 13-year-old boy Haris Ashraf Matta was found hanging at his home at Mansoor Colony area of Bemina in November last year Monday expressed concern over the inordinate delay in probe process.

Haris was studying in 7th standard and was alone at his home at the time of the incident. The mysterious death of Haris had sparked protests in the area prompting police to initiate a probe after they did not rule out murder and had taken up investigation to ascertain cause of death.

The family members of the deceased said that they have been awaiting the outcome of the police probe and but from past four months there is no word from police. “We are anxious and eagerly want to know about the outcome of the probe. We appeal police to expedite the probe process,” they said.

In Charge Police Officer Bemina Police Post told CNS that they have been waiting for the postmortem report and once they will obtain it, future course of action will be taken.
