DEO Anantnag issues timeline for summary revision of Municipal Electoral Rolls

ANANTNAG: District Election Officer (DEO) Anantnag has informed that the Summary Revision of Municipal Electoral Rolls-2016 for Municipal Councils and Committees for the district shall be conducted as per the following timeline.

Draft roll will be published on Friday, March 4, 2016 while claims and objections can be filed from   4 to 14 March, 2016. Disposal of claims and objections will be done from 15 to   19 March, 2016  

Similarly for preparation and printing of supplements of additions, deletions and corrections, March 24, 2016 has been fixed and final electoral roll will be published on March 28, 2016.

The DEO passed strict directions to the Electoral Registration Officers of Municipal Council Anantnag, Municipal Committees of Bijbehara, Doru-Verinag, Aishmuqam, Pahalgam, Mattan, Seer-Hamdan, Kokernag, Achabal and Qazigund to ensure that the persons who are permanent residents of the state and ordinary residents of the area and who have completed 18 years as on Jan 1, 2016 shall be registered as electors in the Municipal Electoral Rolls.

He also asked the concerned officers to give wide publicity through print and electronic media regarding the Revision of Electoral Rolls and to ensure all political parties and legislators of the concerned areas are intimated about the programme. The DEO has also sought certificates from concerned EROs and AEROs after the draft publications to ensure that the publishing of rolls has actually been at done at the designated polling stations, locations and wards.
