Pak balloons land in Rajasthan

Jaipur: A bunch of small-sized gas balloons with the banner of a tournament in Pakistan, landed in Jalore district of Rajasthan on Friday.

“Twenty eight colour balloons having the banner of a tournament in Pakistan, landed in Sarwana area which is around 11 kms from the international border,” SP Jalore, Kalyan Mal Meena said.

He said that the balloons have been seized and the state intelligence unit informed about the matter.

In a similar incident, a US-made helium-filled balloon was shot down by a Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft over Rajasthan that had come in from Pakistan last month.

The shiny 3-metre in diameter balloon, with ‘Happy Birthday’ written on it, was flying at a height of about 25,000 feet in Jaisalmer district when it was picked up by the air force radars which were on high alert in view of Republic Day celebrations.
